mellån.

Danmark, Germany (2012 - 2015)

This lamp was born almost as an experiment to see how possible it was to re-use and old pendant which had a broken spherical glass bulb.

The target was to use very simple materials to recall the nordic minimalistic design and re-create the old sphere silhouette.

The name Mellån in fact, derives from the Swedish "mellan" which means "between", but the "å" changed makes it pronounced more like "melon" which it is resembled by the 2 circles.  A Plumen Bulb is used here with the purpose to make it the centre of attraction into the double circles.

The result is an interesting piece of design which stands out in the living room and recalls many of the lamps in production from the 50s on.
